Securus Technologies Puts Down the Mad Dog

Securus Technologies is a large industry leader in the communications industry. They primarily are involved with the servicing of correctional institutions, law enforcement agencies, and safety organizations. Their client base exceeds 3,400, and they service over 1.2 million inmates and their families throughout North America.

The Securus platform works with all Androids, iPhones, tablets and regular phones that are landline setups. There are several calling plans including direct billing, prepaid calling, collect calls and inmate debit where the payment is the inmate’s responsibility.

The video calling system is very popular because the callers can see each other while they talk, as long as there is a webcam set up at each end of the call. There is also a Jail Voicemail feature, email, and a special money transfer capability.

The system works very well and the connection between the incarcerated loved and the family on a daily basis has opened up a plethora of good things. Securus constantly is awarded plaudits for their excellent customer service.

Unfortunately, in recent months a competitor, GTL has disparaged Securus by floating untruthful information about Securus. GTL claimed that their servicing and pricing models were far better than those of Securus, and nothing could be farther from the truth. The examples and models presented by GTL seem to have come from Uncle Loopy’s Mad World of Rejects.

Securus made the decision to stop the foolishness by throwing down the gauntlet. They threw out a challenge to GTL. Each company would lay their metrics side by side backed by unimpeachable proof, and a disinterested third party would be the judge of it all. As soon as word got out in the public arena, a deafening silence permeated the air. Nothing was heard of GTL for several weeks until they meekly notified Securus that they had chosen not to compete in the challenge. The truth always wins, and that is the end of that story forever.
